Things are gettin' pretty wild on The O.C these days -- Olivia Wilde that is. Tongues have totally been waggin' over this hot blonde's budding relationship with poor-little-rich-girl, Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton). So, is this 20-year-old actress as much of a rebel as the character she plays on TV? Well, let's put it this way: The butterfly tattoo might be Alex's, but Olivia still has a few tricks of her own!

A Bad Girl's Guide to The O.C.
She's the hot girl you just can't figure out. The girl all the guys
want, and all the girls want to be. As Alex Kelly, the sexy, high school
dropout and resident bar manager on The. O.C., Olivia admits there are
perks to being a bad girl (aside from making out with Adam Brody, of
course). "I think the biggest perk is I get the most interesting
storyline," Olivia explains. "A lot of [fans] seem really
supportive of it. I've gotten a lot of really nice letters. People really
seem to dig it." On a less-than-serious note, Olivia admits that
her usual jeans and tee shirt combo gets a glamorous makeover when the
show's hair and make-up people get a hold of her. "Alex jumps out
of the shower and she's got like three hours worth of make-up on,"
she jokes. "People think the blue streak [in my hair on the show]
is real, and they come up to me all the time and ask me where it is.
Alex is so different from me. I'm very low maintenance."
I Heart Mischa
Talk about tongue-tied! Both Olivia and her costar, Mischa Barton can't
say enough about working together. Especially Mischa, who recently admitted
that she would rather swap spit with Olivia than any of the guys on
the show! When confronted with the info, Olivia can't help but laugh.
"It was a hilarious quote," she exclaims, chuckling. "I
love it! I want to go on record and say thanks Misch!" The reality
(besides the fact that Olivia is married in real life, and Mischa has
a BF), Olivia explains, is that girls just seem to get each other in
a way that guys don't. "We have conferences before each scene to
make it very realistic," she reveals. "We analyze everything
from a kiss to what our characters are thinking. I don't know if guys
do that, but it really helps us feel so comfortable with each other."
Olivia is also quick to point out that making out with Adam Brody is
as equally chill - just different. Why? Olivia says it's because she
really digs his better half, GF and costar Rachel Bilson (Summer). "Rachel
is probably the coolest person I've ever met," she confesses. "[She
and Adam] have such a great relationship, and when you see them kiss
each other, it's sooo sweet. When they kiss on the show you know it's
coming from a real place."
By The Book
While Olivia has quickly made a name for herself in the biz thanks to
a supporting role in last year's Girl Next Store, and her brief starring
stint on the now-defunct TV series, Skin, she admits she's itchin' to
get her feet wet in the family business. For most of us that means being
a doctor or a lawyer, but for Olivia it actually means following in
the famous footsteps of her father and grandfather who are both well-known
writers. "I've recently become really interested in screenwriting,"
she says. "As an actor you're a storyteller, and I feel like there's
a huge connection between writing and acting." If that's the case,
we had to wonder what kind of ending she'd write for her character.
Unfortunately for us, she refuses to give up the goods on that particular
plot point, other than to hint that her character won't be making Orange
County her permanent home away from home forever. "I'll miss playing
Alex, but I'll definitely take her with me when it's over."
You can catch Olivia and the rest of the cast of The O.C. Thursday nights on Fox at 8:00 PM (ET).
